It's the application of specific wavelengths of light to stimulate a healing response. Infrared light lies outside visible light, so we can't see it. As infrared light has longer wavelengths than visible light, it can also penetrate deeper into the body, just as red light can penetrate deeper than blue light.
Yes. Just different terminology.
No, they're not the same thing. The laser is a "straight" beam of light, while the others are a "wavy" form of light. Depending on the strength of the laser beam, care must be taken when using the laser to avoid burning the tissue. There are no such problems with photonic, red and LED therapy.
Red light therapy is highly beneficial for horses due to its ability to penetrate deep into muscles, tendons, ligaments and bones to promote a strong healing response. The predominantly red and infrared wavelengths of light act to increase circulation, collagen production, ATP production, serotonin and melatonin production, lymphatic drainage, endorphin release and reduce inflammation. Our products help with tension, muscle stiffness, inflammation, back pain and other ailments of the upper and lower neck, shoulders, chest and back. Pain in the head, neck, temporomandibular joint, neck and more!
Depending on your horse's needs and condition, we recommend up to three treatments a day, with a minimum of 90 minutes in between.
Duration varies between 5-20 minutes, depending on the GOLDRIDE product you buy. Twenty minutes will give a good therapeutic dose of light energy when the pad is wrapped around a limb. Increase to thirty minutes when used flat on the upper line. * Time may vary depending on the GOLDRIDE product you have at home.
Ideally, use the pad just before the event and competition to help relax. Also use directly after the competition once the horse has cooled down. As a recovery aid, this is the ideal time to use the pad. Red and infrared wavelengths greatly stimulate circulation and lymphatic drainage to improve performance and recovery.
Precision lamp is a hand-held device that emits a small, concentrated beam of red light (470:630:660:850:940nm). Ideal for stimulating acupuncture points, trigger points and working on small areas. Red light pads are ideal for use on larger areas all over the body. And the pads can be held in place with elastics on the main parts of your horse.
Wrap the pad in place for 20-30 minutes twice a day. Ideally after icing (if you're still icing). Use before exercise (when you're at this stage of rehabilitation) and after the horse has cooled down.
*We recommend, however, that you confirm with your certified equine veterinary professional that your horse is a good candidate and that infrared light therapy is safe for your horse.
Yes, you can use it once a day for a good 20 minutes on the area of stiffness. The pad will stimulate circulation and displace inflammation. Yes, red and infrared light penetrate deep into tissues and joint spaces to increase circulation, which improves tissue oxygenation and the elimination of metabolic waste products. These wavelengths are also effective in displacing inflammation and stimulating the release of endorphins, which can significantly reduce pain levels.
Yes, but ONLY after the initial crisis phase is over. When your veterinarian says it's appropriate to increase circulation to the hoof, use the GOLDRIDE pad two to three times a day.

In acute situations, you can do 2-3 sessions a day for the first few days, then reduce to once a day as healing progresses.

Yes, we recommend using GOLDRIDE: Light therapy system for hock, knee, fetlock and hoof (pair). Infrared wavelengths penetrate hoof walls!
In some cases, a horse may need a slow introduction of the system/pad, especially if he is sensitive to touch. Use the red light pad for a short period (2-3 minutes if the horse is unstable) and then repeat later in the day. Usually, the horse will get used to the pad and very quickly learn to relax and enjoy these sessions. No force should ever be used when applying the products.
No harm whatsoever can be done by using the pads as directed. Even leaving them on much longer than normal is safe, as the body will only absorb what it needs in a session.
24 hours after surgery, you can use the pad twice a day to help the healing process.

Do not use on the abdominal area of pregnant mares, not because it's harmful, we haven't found any studies citing use on pregnant mares, so prefer not to take the risk out of an abundance of caution.
You can, however, put it on your pregnant mare's legs with your vet's permission.
Yes, GOLDRIDE red light therapy pads are an electrical device and should be treated as such. Keep an eye on your horse at all times during treatment.
Use a damp cloth with a mild LED cleaner. Use a brush to remove hair from the battery and fabric.
